Patrick specialises in wills, probate, trusts and powers of attorney.
Patrick has considerable experience in advising a wide variety of clients on wills, lifetime tax planning and related issues. He has expertise in probate and dealing with complicated estates, including those estates with assets situated overseas, claims for business property and agricultural property relief and post-death tax planning.
Patrick has experience in dealing with a variety of applications to the Court of Protection, including deputyships, and advises on the use and preparation of lasting powers of attorney.
He provides advice to both trustees and beneficiaries on their rights and responsibilities, as well as tax issues, and can prepare a range of documents to facilitate the efficient administration of trusts. He works with other professionals such as accountants and financial advisors to provide clients with an all-round service.
Patrick has an interest in charity law and is a member of the Charity Law Association. He has advised on the creation of several charities, as well as providing ongoing advice to charity trustees on their obligations and the objects of the charity.
Patrick is a full member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) and acts as a professional trustee and attorney. He qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and joined Colman Coyle in April 2018 from a leading regional firm.
