Following the air travel chaos, David Malamatenios has warned Publican readers on wages

David Malamatenios a solicitor in the employment team has been quoted in the Publican Magazine. Following the travel chaos caused by the volcanic ash David advised their readers to "tread carefully if they were thinking of not paying absent staff."

He told the Publican, "as far as stopping salary is concerned, that is dependent on the contract .Unless there is a specific clause in place there is no right to make the deduction. However what an employer can do is take absence from holiday leave or give them unpaid leave on those days."
