The annual changes to the minimum wages are due to come into force tomorrow, 1st October 2016.
The national living wage for workers aged over 25 remains £7.20 per hour since it was introduced in April of this year. The new minimum wages for younger workers from 1st October 2016 will be:
21-25 – £6.95ph
18-21 – £5.55ph
<18 – £4.00ph
Apprentices – £3.40ph
The minimum wage rates are reviewed annually and have been updated in October, but from 2017 they will be updated in April; an important date for both employers and employees to keep in their diary.
